MP TOM KMIEC HAS INTRODUCED LEGISLATION CALLING FOR

Disability Tax Fairness

This bill champions disabled persons and would ensure they get the benefits they deserve. This legislation will curb back the hefty clawbacks faced by low-income Canadians with disabilities.

The Fairness for Persons with Disabilities Act will achieve fair treatment for Canadians with disabilities in getting the tax credits and benefits they are entitled to so they can pay for the resources required to manage their condition.

Last year, we learned of a clampdown on access to the disability tax credit (DTC) by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) that affected sufferers of diabetes. Other rare disease suffers had similar issues with the CRA.

I remain committed to improving the government’s processes to ensure that all Canadians living with a disability receive the benefits they deserve and are entitled to. When I first ran for elected office I did so wanting to do more for rare disease patients and their families. I have worked over the past three years to find a meaningful way to do just that.

THE FAIRNESS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES ACT IS GAINING NATIONWIDE SUPPORT
